Referring Patients To
Dr. Bednarski
Dr. Bednarski is truly honored to care for your patient. She will keep you updated on her assessment and treatment plans and is happy to collaborate with you on your terms.
New Patients
Dr. Bednarski warmly welcomes new patients. They become part of the family and are treated as such.
For your convenience, Dr. Bednarski does minimally invasive biopsies (ultrasound-guided and stereotactic), so if you have a patient who has had an imaging study and was told that she needs a biopsy, Dr. Bednarski is happy to take care of this sensitive issue.
If you would like to refer a new patient, please keep the following in mind:
- If the patient has a new breast complaint and is a woman older than 30, she will need new imaging. In most cases, this means a diagnostic mammogram. If you have questions about the type of imaging needed, please call our office.
- If the patient has a new breast complaint and is a woman younger than 30, Dr. Bednarski will determine what type of imaging is best once she sees her. In other words, she can be seen even without imaging in advance.
- If you are sending a female patient for breast cancer risk assessment, and she is older than 40, it would be ideal (but not imperative) for her to have had a screening mammogram within the last year.
- If you are sending a female patient for breast cancer risk assessment who is younger than 40, no imaging is necessary.
- If you are sending a male patient of any age with a breast complaint, a mammogram is helpful, but not imperative.
If the patient has had imaging, she will need to bring her imaging disc and reports to the appointment, unless she (or you) would like to provide this information in advance.
If the patient has had prior breast surgery or biopsies, reports of the pathology (even if benign) would be extremely helpful.
Dr. Bednarski is also happy to assess your patient for cryoablation (a minimally invasive in-office procedure that freezes and kills breast cancer). You can simply send any imaging and pathology that has been done, and Dr. Bednarski will set up a treatment plan. Dr. Bednarski sees patients from all over the United States and abroad.
Established Patients
(follow-up)
If you are reuniting a patient with Dr. Bednarski who was seen at another institution, please understand that she appreciates the honor of continuation of care, but she does not have access to prior records.
These records will need to be provided in advance of the visit or when the patient comes to their appointment.
